Recycled Flower

I actually found the base of this piece in the recycled bin, later claimed by Chapman, and decided to glaze it. I thought it was cool looking and could find some sort of use out of it. I glazed it high fire turquoise and brown.

Ishmael

The inspiration for my Ishmael Mug was from the book i read 'Ishmael,' i forget the author at the moment the book is with my ceramics teacher. The book is very anthropologistic & that's actually the major i'm going into. It inspired me, and more so, the connection of this mug to the book was that when i was throwing, the teacher i leant the book out too, was teaching me the proper ways to throw. So further carrying the teacher-student relationship.

After i constructed the bowl, i begun to create the handle. I intertwined a bunch of thin coils to make a tree branch effect. When i first made it the clay was a soft green and the handle a deeper brown. I've tried to incorporate all this things into the final piece, glazing it more natural colors, but it hasn't come out how i want it.

This is about the fourth stage of my ishmael mug. I haven't kept up with documenting the process as i should've, but as you can see the stage it's at is a deep blue and burnt orange. Basically the opposite of what i intended so to be continued. .
